The Due Diligence System consists of three steps: Risk Assessment, Risk Mitigation, and Publication of Information. It is there to ensure that the concerned products are deforestation-free and produced according to the relevant legislation of the respective country.

It is necessary to verify whether a Due Diligence Statement is available from suppliers and to determine which of the following scenarios applies according to the certification scope under the FSC Regulatory Module:

a) A Due Diligence Statement is available from suppliers; or

b) A Due Diligence Statement has to be established.
