The Due Diligence System consists of three steps: Risk Assessment, Risk Mitigation, and Publication of Information. It is there to ensure that the concerned products are deforestation-free and produced according to the relevant legislation of the respective country.

Users are exempt from issuing a Due Diligence Statement if the material or product is covered by a due diligence statement previously issued by a supplier/sub-supplier and submitted to the EU information system. In such cases, the organization shall provide the competent authorities with the reference number of the due diligence statement, upon request.
